Experience with China & Tourism Working in the field since 1970s. First visit to Mainland China in 1978. Tour Operator bringing Europeans to China (1980s) and Chinese to Europe (1990s). Since 2002 Professor for International Tourism Management at Westcoast UoAS in Heide/Germany, visiting or adjunct Professor at universities in UK, China and New Zealand. Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS) and Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society (FRAS).

Since 2004 director of COTRI.

Acknowledged as one of the leading experts on China’s outbound tourism.

Fun fact In 2016 Prof. Arlt conducted CTW trainings, keynotes, presentations etc. on all continents (except Antarctica!)
