
COTRI Director Prof. Arlt to speak at event discussing tourism and the ‘New Silk Road’

COTRI Director Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt is set to appear at the Tourismus und die „Neue Seidenstraße“ (Tourism and the ‘New Silk Road’) event at the IHK Akademie München Forum (Chamber of Industry and Commerce Academy Forum) on Friday November 23.
Prof. Arlt will speak at 9:45 on the topic of Die Zukunft des Tourismus entlang der Neuen Seidenstraße (The Future of Tourism Along the New Silk Road) in a session where he will be joined by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt’s Prof. Dr. Harald Pechlaner and Dr. Friedhelm Acksteiner of the Forum Neue Seidenstraße e.V. (New Silk Road Forum).
The day-long conference will see discussion of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the role it may have in ongoing growth in Chinese outbound tourism to Europe. Discussions will see particular focus on the ramifications and challenges this could present for regional tourism, as well as how the opportunities brought by the initiative can be utilised by the industry in Germany and further afield.
