In advance of the WTM fair, COTRI partner Capela China, represented by Gary Grieve, hosted its China Tourism Leaders’ Dinner in collaboration with China Travel Outbound’s Helena Beard at the Imperial China restaurant in London’s Chinatown.
Gathering together influential figures from the Chinese outbound tourism industry, the evening saw a keynote speech delivered by COTRI Director Prof. Arlt as well as case study presentations of Royal Museums Greenwich by Amy O’Rourke covering the Royal Observatory and Cutty Sark.
Amidst the discussions, the point was made that the ship’s southern Chinese history would be more interesting for visitors from Guangdong and therefore Cantonese audio guides would be an appropriate means of taking the attraction’s market segment into account. The evening also saw further dialogue on the topics of growth of the family market, Chinese preferred payment methods and the challenges of tracking Chinese visitor numbers to the UK.
