Turkey Roadshow in Shenzhen

  • Posted by Newsdesk
  • On 18th September 2018

Tuesday September 18, 2018 saw the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China host the 2018 Turkey Road Show at the Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen hotel. The event saw the participation of six Turkish tour operators, as well as 36 Chinese tour operators. With the goal of furthering bilateral cultural exchange, as well as fostering deeper engagement between travel agencies, the road show will also see further business activities and B2B events taking place between bodies representing the two countries.

The road show takes part within the wider context of the ongoing 2018 Turkey Tourism Year in China, which has seen a wide range of publicity and promotional activities take place during the course of the year so far. Through events such as tours, exhibitions, exchanges, food weeks and concerts being held in major cities, Turkey has sought to promote better understanding of its culture, history, cuisine, diverse tourism resources and hospitality among the Chinese market. Accordingly, the country has witness year-on-year growth in Chinese arrivals of around 100% in the first half of 2018.

Speaking at the event on behalf of the event co-organisers, COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute Director Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt highlighted key global trends in the Chinese outbound market, and highlighted their relevance to the contemporary circumstances in the Turkish tourism industry. Prof. Arlt’s presentation from the event is available at the following link.
