ITB Berlin 2018: New Trends and Driving Forces For The Chinese Tourism Market

The panel discussion ‘New Trends And Driving Forces For The Chinese Tourism Market’, which took place as part of the 2018 ITB Congress is available to watch online at the following link.

Chaired by Esencan Terzibasoglu, Special Advisor to the UNWTO Secretary-General, UNWTO, the panel consists of: Kaari Artemjeff, Marketing Manager (China & Russia) at Helsinki Marketing, Caissa Product Director Tony Jin, visitBerlin’s Director of Market Management Ralf Ostendorf, Roger Qiu, GM of Europe at Ctrip and Dr. Song Rui, the Director at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The video sees the experts offer their opinions on the questions: ‘What are the special characteristics of the Chinese tourists for an urban destination in Europe?’, ‘What are the main features of the tourism products (or experiences) that they are looking for?’ and ‘How do you attract the Chinese market to your destination?’

Notably, from the 33:19 minute mark of the video, viewers can see chair Esencan Terzibasoglu ask how those interested in the field of Chinese outbound tourism should go about gaining intelligence into market trends, to which Mr. Ostendorf referred to COTRI Director Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt and the COTRI Weekly as key sources of information.
