His Excellency Mr Lin Lin, The Ambassador of PRC to the Slovak Republic opened a CTW Chinese Tourist Welcome training session led by COTRI Country Partner Tomasz Janczak of Chinese Outbound Travel in Bratislava on Tuesday 16th January, 2018.
Speaking to the 17 participants present at the Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel, His Excellency Mr. Lin emphasised that the number of Chinese visitors to Slovakia is growing at a rapid pace, with 2017 seeing the annual total surpass 50,000 for the first time. With the central European state being a part of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative – which will help boost the Chinese tourism market in countries around the world – which further entrench the image of Slovakia as a travel destination for many Chinese.
Nevertheless, the Chinese Ambassador underlined that there were still plenty of improvements that could be implemented by the local tourism industry and reiterated that initiatives such as the CTW training programme would greatly benefit local businesses looking to better understand and prepare themselves for the growing Chinese outbound market.
The participants of the training represented a broad range of the key segments of the tourism industry, covering: inbound tour operators, regional tourism boards, event agencies, travel agencies and hotels.
The training session was sponsored and co-organised by WON China Investment Europe.
