COTRI Country Partner for Switzerland Prof. Dipl. phil. II Barbara Haller-Rupf has had her German-language article ‘China Inbound Service: Ein Ansatz, die Wertschöpfung mit chinesischen Gästen in den alpinen Destinationen zu halten‘ – co-authored with Dr. rer pol. Dipl.-Kffr. (Univ.) Katrin Schillo – published in Volume 9, Issue 2 (Nov 2017) of Zeitschrift für Tourismuswissenschaft.

Exploring the topic of Chinese outbound tourism in an alpine context, the article’s abstract reads as follows:

“Chinese outbound tourism offers huge potential to Alpine destinations and great challenges as well. Therefore, the question arises, which products and services based on what kind of organization increases the value added in the destinations most. Findings of customer surveys in two destinations as well as expert and focus group discussions on travel expectations and behavior of Chinese FIT guests, are analyzed in the project ‘China Inbound Service’. It turns out that guests, who come to Europe repeatedly, stay longer in a destination in order to enjoy activities like skiing or nature experiences. Moreover, suggestions were developed to improve the quality of tourism services as well as to bundle services across all involved destinations and service providers.”
