Tourism officials from Nevada participated in the opening ceremony of the U.S. – China Tourism Year in Beijing, which showed the concern of the state to receive more Chinese tourists in the future.
Participants of the ceremony, which was organized by Brand USA, included Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Director Claudia Vecchio and Nevada Division of Tourism Deputy Director Larry Friedman.
With the U.S. – China Tourism Year of 2016, both countries are making efforts to enhance the bilateral communications and thus improve the relationship of the both sides. Nevada, which has been conducting marketing activities in China for over a decade, has a great potential to attract Chinese tourists with its landscape and vivid city cultures.
In recent years, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Nevada increased rapidly. With the visa restrictions lessened, Chinese tourists are now able to experience more of the state’s tourism offers. For the United States, Chinese tourists are becoming more important guests. According to the National Travel and Tourism Office, Chinese tourists spend on average USD 5,350 on their trip, and 15% of them will visit Nevada when they come the U.S.
Another important reason that Nevada is more dedicated to attracting more Chinese tourists is that tourism is the most important industry of the state and receiving more foreign tourists is vital for the economic development.
