The United States is a popular destination for Chinese tourists who would like to take a vacation abroad. With the number of Chinese outbound travelers increasing, Brand USA estimates that China will become the biggest tourist source market for the United States in 2018. For now, China is ranked on the 7th.

In 2013, more than 1.8 million Chinese tourists visited the U.S. According the U.S. Commerce Department, that was an increase of 22.5% comparing with the same period in the previous year. Furthermore, their total expense was 21% more than tourists from other countries. This indicates that Chinese tourists are not only great in number, but are also characterized by their willingness to spend much money on their trip.

According to Chris Thompson, the CEO of Brand USA, Chinese tourists generally stay longer than tourists from other countries, and most of them would either choose California or New York as their first destination.

Meanwhile, the interest of Chinese tourists visiting the U.S. is also increasing. Brand USA conducted a survey among the potential tourists in China, and 59% of the respondents would plan to visit the U.S. within one year. For the coming years, the number of Chinese tourists visiting the U.S. is expected to continuously grow due to the marketing and more convenient airlines.
