Professor Wolfgang Georg Arlt of COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute has published another article on the Forbes Blog. In the new article, Professor Arlt analyses the impact brought by Nepal’s waiving visa application fee for Chinese tourists upon the future development of the tourism market in Nepal. He believes that this act would prompt more Chinese tourists to visit Nepal in the future, thus increasing the country’s tourism income. Although the visa application fee is not a big expense for the Chinese tourists who can afford a trip abroad, waiving it reflects Nepal’s extra concern for Chinese tourists, which they highly value.
However, more needs to be done if Nepal wants to attract more high-end Chinese tourists. The current package tours in Nepal cannot satisfy those who want a customized trip and obtain unique travel experiences. Therefore, Nepal needs to diversify its travel offers in the future by providing more services for the Chinese tourists who want something more than just visiting the most famous tourist destinations.
