Professor Wolfgang Georg Arlt of COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute has published a new blog on Forbes. In the new article, Professor Arlt predicted several possible developments of the Chinese outbound tourism market in 2016. Based on the rapid growth in 2015, it is reasonable to conclude that the number of Chinese tourists travelling abroad is going to steadily increase. Due to this change, foreign tourism destinations are making more adjustments to meet the demands of the new customers. Comparing to tourists from other tourists, Chinese spend more on shopping and less on accommodations, which would mean lucrative opportunities for the retailers of the foreign tourism destinations. However, the competition would also become more intense as more destinations are becoming aware of the importance of Chinese tourists and taking measures to appeal to them. To sum up, the new year of 2016 will likely witness more growth of the Chinese outbound tourism market.
