Figures show that Chinese tourists predominantly visit Sydney and Melbourne, but authorities are seeing increasing arrivals to other parts of the country, such as Tasmania.

Tasmania, the most southern state of Australia benefited from a visit of a Chinese model and from the visit of Xi Jinping. First of all the model and actress Zhang Xinyu posted on Chinese social media a photo of herself with a “Bobbie Bear” – a lavender-stuffed toy from a lavender farm in Tasmania. This picture made the “Bobbie Bear” famous and boosted the tourism arrival numbers to Tasmania after the regulation that only visitors to the farm can purchase this toy bear. Tasmania got a further boost by the visit of President Xi Jinping. On arrival he was presented with a “Bobbie Bear”.
