In 2014, one out of ten of all international border crossings started from Mainland China, conducted by app. 5.5% of Mainland Chinese citizens (70 out of 1,390 million inhabitants). The total number 116 million border crossings represented an 18 % increase in comparison to 2013.
For the first half of 2015, 62 million border crossings were reported by CNTA. It has to be noted however, that CNTA has internally changed the definition of outbound tourists and revised the number of international travels for previous years, without however publishing the new series yet. For 2014 as a result various figures of 107, 109, 112 million trips were reported. The 62 million figure for H1 2015 would – in the former way of calculation – be several million higher.
